SCC Leadership and Education

SCC Leadership and Education provides opportunities for USC students to build leadership skills, practice respectful dialogue, and engage across difference. Through workshops and programs focused on civil discourse, active listening, and personal reflection, students gain tools to lead with empathy and contribute to a more connected campus community.

This program is open to all eligible individuals. SCC Leadership & Education operates all of its programs and activities consistent with the University’s Notice of Non-Discrimination. Eligibility is not determined based on race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or any other prohibited factor.

Workshop Information

JEDI Peer Education workshops and events are open to all students. JEDI operates its programs and workshops in accordance with USC’s Notice of Non-Discrimination.

Fostering Respectful Dialogue

Develop skills for civil discourse and dialogue different perspectives. Participants will learn techniques for navigating difficult conversations such as active listening. This workshop is open to all students.

Identity, Privilege,
and Intersectionality

The Identity, Privilege, and Intersectionality workshop explores how our different backgrounds interact to shape our experiences. This workshop is open to all students.

Implicit Bias & Microaggressions

The Implicit Bias and Microaggressions workshop focuses on uncovering subconscious biases and understanding how they manifest in everyday interactions. The session highlights the impact of microaggressions and equips participants with tools to address and reduce the effects of bias in their environments. This workshop is open to all students.

Race and Power

The Race and Power workshop explores the social constructs of race and power, focusing on how these concepts shape individual identities and societal dynamics. This workshop is open to all students

Gender & Sexuality

The Gender & Sexuality workshop explores how gender and sexuality are shaped by social systems and how these systems contribute to inequality. This workshop is open to all students.

Economic (In)justice

Learn about the impact of income inequality on individuals and communities. Through activities and discussions, participants will reflect on how economic disparities shape access to education, housing, and basic needs. This workshop is open to all students.

Religious Privilege & Discrimination

Explore the dynamics of religious privilege, discrimination, and identity. Participants will learn about how religious privilege manifests in daily life and institutions, and engage in activities to reflect on their own experiences and responsibilities in fostering inclusivity for people of all faiths. This workshop is open to all students.

University Departments and Recognized Student Organizations may request that a member of our team facilitate a JEDI Peer Education Workshop for their group. JEDI Peer Education Workshops are only provided on a fully voluntary basis (meaning, departments and RSOs should not require their members or staff to attend a JEDI workshop; we also ask that our workshops not be scheduled during or adjacent to meetings that are mandatory for a different reason).
